Be an Organised Chef in Your Kitchen.

To be an organised chef you need some guidance and "The Kitchen Revolution" which we recommend, provides just that.

There are countless cookbooks written by super cooks but do you have the time to research 5, 6 or 7 different meals every week? Probably not.

This book has done the work for you and the result is interesting nutritious meals seven days a week. It also helps with your shopping list which cuts down on waste. "According to recent reports, up to a third of household food in the United Kingdom is wasted".Yet all too often the fridge and pantry are empty despite a huge shop only a few days ago. Or so it seems!

"This book aims to help solve these culinary conundrums with a system that provides recipes for every day of the week. You don't need to spend a fortune shopping three times a week - or spend hours every night cooking huge meals from scratch. It's possible to feed an entire household, whether two, four or five people , without being either superhuman or a kitchen drudge. It just takes a bit of planning, housekeeping and some cunning recipes."

NB. All quotations are from "The Kitchen Revolution"

As an Organised Chef you'll need a shopping list for say, four people. You can divide or multiply this figure. This list will be the weekly shop for Meat & Fish, Dairy Products, Fruit & Vegatables plus basics such as Olive Oil, Flour, Salt & Pepper, Herbs & Spices etc...

Now for your cooking! Planning the big meal from scratch with surprising thrift - Day 1 Caramelised Vegetable Tart with Baked Celery and Broccoli. Day 2 Beef or Venison Stew with Walnuts and Prunes. As you can see there are healthy options!!

The shopping list and recipes have full, easy to follow instructions and quantities for shopping and recipes. Together with oven temperatures in Celsius and Gas Marks.

The book covers every week of the year and, of course, includes puddings.

If you have any questions about our experience using this book please feel free to contact us by using the "Contact Us" button on the left.

The books recommended below do not replace the ingenuity of "The Kitchen Revolution."

Local Good Food Venues

Peacocks Tearoom. Ely

Is this the best Tearoom in the country?

We think so, Cream Teas, Gooseberry Fool, Cherry Scones, Finger Sandwiches & Light Lunches among a plethora of teatime delicacies.

Pike & Eel, Needingworth, Cambridgeshire.

This Restaurant, Hotel and Marina is in a beautiful setting. They have a doorway dated 1608 but the food is up to date and first class.

Relaxing in the large gardens by the river in summer and roaring log fires in the winter.

We've enjoyed every course of every meal at every visit.

The Boathouse, Ely

This riverside restaurant has been a favourite of ours since they opened in 2005.

The food is excellent, the staff professional and friendly and they cope with special diets with aplomb, courtesy and without embarrassing the customer.

They have an al fresco terrace overlooking the River Great Ouse in the summer and serve succulent British dishes along with wholesome vegetarian dishes.

The Boathouse is a 5 minute walk from Ely Railway Station.
